Following Tech Trends

I’m not one to get overly excited about new technology and gadgets. I follow all the trends and read about them on various blogs. I like knowing what is coming, but never have I ever wanted to line up for anything the day of its release.

When the iPhone 4 was released, I knew I wanted the phone, but decided to wait a couple of months before going and signing up. Even then, I had to be put on a waitlist.

This all changed with the iPad 2. From the moment of its announcement, I was sure that I wanted it. I’ve used the original iPad a couple of times and I could see it being a useful tool when traveling.

While I was at #yvrtwestival, I got my hands on an iPad 2 and that pretty much sealed the deal.

The next day, I hear via Twitter that the London Drugs near my work place still didn’t have a line. By the time I got there, shortly after 2, there were maybe 5 people in line. I went to go grab food, and when I got back, there were a couple more people. Eventually, C. and I became number 9 and 10.

They were being released at 5pm so we had a two hour wait. I have never lined up for anything and I probably wasn’t going to if there was already a line at the London Drugs. They had 20 in stock, but I guess most people didn’t think to go there for one. Instead there were massive lines at the Apple Store in Pacific Centre, Oakridge and Richmond Centre. Too crazy!

The unboxing!

Testing out Facetime!

I’m still working out a lot of the kinks and what not of the new purchase, but so far I’m loving it!

Time to sell my netbook! Any takers?
