I finally went and got my wisdom teeth out today. I was utterly terrified. I heard so many horror stories from various people and I’ve seen the results with my own eyes. People with chubby cheeks, not being able to talk and eat. I was not looking forward to it at all.
The operation went easily enough. My first tooth was out and I didn’t even know it. Granted, I was watching Cash Cab and was concentrating on answering the questions (and those that know me well, know that I take my trivia very seriously), so I really didn’t feel anything nor was I completely paying attention.
I only had three wisdom teeth. One that was grown almost completely out – that was the first to go, and the easiest. Next was one that was some what grown out, but still need a little bit of digging. My last tooth was still impacted so they had to dig it out. I barely felt anything the whole time. I only got local anaesthesia which I preferred. No need to get completely drugged up and be out of it for the whole day.
I’ve been prescribed a bunch of pills to handle the pain, decrease swelling and decrease any chance of infection. Trying to figure out how to take the first set of pills was so awkward when my mouth was all frozen.
My jaw is a little sore, but nothing too major as of yet. I’m not swollen so no chipmunk cheeks! Hopefully I’ll make a speedy recovery and I can go back to eating!
Man I miss food. I really crave meat. All I’ve been eating are white coloured food: mashed potatoes, tapioca, and coconut pudding. I had some chicken noodle soup which I guess isn’t completely white despite the noodles. I want real food. Bah!
Maybe tomorrow…
