Transit Adventures

Today (and by today I really mean yesterday, but I haven’t slept yet, so its still today), the skytrain stopped running when I was on my way to work.  The operator came on and said there was a critical hydro problem and they had to suspend service.  I was at Patterson Skytrain station.  I didn’t freak out, which is surprising, but thought out my options in a calm manner.  I ended up walking to Metrotown and taking the #19 to work.  I’m so glad I decided to take the extra time to walk to Metrotown instead of the closest stop to the skytrain station.  That stop was packed with people when my bus went past it.

When I first got to the skytrain station, there was a train there, but I didn’t rush to get on it.  I’m so glad I didn’t because otherwise I would have been at Joyce station and I have no idea how to get from there to work.  My laziness turned out to be a good thing.

The people on the bus around me were interesting.  One lady was working on the finish touches of her master thesis that she was presenting that afternoon.  She was happy that she left early, giving her time to get to school on the bus.  The lady sitting next to me was spilling her life story to someone that she knew on the bus.  I felt like he was a minister or something.  She kept on bringing up religion and God to him.  She was also immensely annoyed at the situation and wouldn’t stop complaining.  I got frustrated just listening to her complain about the skytrain situation.

I’m surprised how calm I was during the whole thing and came up with a solution quickly.  I later found out it was a power outage.  Seem to be a lot of those lately.  Maybe its because of all the construction?

It’s way past my bed time.  This is random enough…  I hope this made sense…
