Life Updates

What has been going on in Adie’s life?

Doctor

I went to visit my family doctor on Sat.  It was so awkward.  She doesn’t speak English very well and I can’t communicate very well in Chinese.  Talking about aches and pains and medical stuff is way beyond my Chinese abilities.  She pretty much said that my pains are muscle pains caused by not enough calcium.  She told me to take two pills a day at least 500 mg each.  So I’ve been doing that.  My back pain hasn’t completely gone away yet, but hopefully it will soon!

Friend Visit

I had a friend visiting Van from out of town.  We went to UVic together and he was here to visit friends and see a bit of Van.  We had dinner and went to the night market.  The next day we went random places around Richmond taking photos.  I had asked him to take photos of me to use as a profile photo for my website (which I have yet to build).  Here are a couple of my favs:

Conference Manager

I’m pretty sure I’m going to apply for Conference Manager on the National Support Team for AIESEC Canada.  If I get the position, it means I can’t go on exchange until after my term, meaning after June 2011 which is not bad I guess.  If I find a job now, that will give me a year or so at that job before I have to leave it.  I’m a bit scared that by apply to this position, means I’m going to get sucked back into AIESEC, not that I’m not already – I have so many friends still in it.  I was just hoping I could get away from it all, but its still almost always in my life – I hear so much AIESEC gossip, its ridiculous.  But then again, I think the position would be useful for my resume, especially if I want to get into event planning.

I FINALLY finished the turnover document.  31 pages, and 10,000 words.  That is pretty huge.  Including appendices, its 62 pages.  At least its done now!  Phew!

Job Search

I sent out one application a day this week.  Pretty proud about that.  Hopefully I’ll get some response back.  Writing cover letters is so tiring.  Must keep going though if I want a job.

Rush Vancouver

So I finally made up my mind about Rush Vancouver.  The Rush is kind of like the Amazing Race, but just around Vancouver.  Its to raise money for the BC Lung Association.  The main thing holding me back was trying to raise $200 in donations in such short notice and with so many of my friends unemployed or on a tight budget.    But I figured, when will have have the opportunity to do something like this again?  The next time around, I’ll probably be working or busy with other projects.  So… I need your help!  Donate here!  We’ve only raised $50… please help us!
