Bringing the World Together

Today I went out for dim sum with E.  I travelled with him when I was studying in the Netherlands.  We were reminiscing about the time we spent in Ireland when he brought up a dinner that we went to with some friends of his.

It is pretty amazing to think that of the four of us that sat down to dinner together, we held 3 different passports: Irish, French and Canadian.  E. met one of the others while he was on exchange in Hong Kong.  She is French, but with Chinese parents.  She was dating someone from Ireland and was there on an internship.  For dinner we had char siu that she had managed to make in the oven.  So here we were in Dublin, sitting down to dinner with people a world apart.  Despite all our differences and where we lived, somehow we all came together one evening to enjoy a meal.  It blows my mind, but it is so cool.
