What happened here?

There is shit on the bottom of them pic and between the bushes are a pair of flip flops. What happened here? The first time I saw it, the set up was different. The shit was still fresh (and wet) and the flip flops were a couple steps in front of the shit and was covered partly by it too. My theory? Someone didn't see the shit, stepped in it, got shit all over their foot and flip flops and just decided to walk barefoot.
