Mysterious Illness

Last Wednesday before bed I started experiencing some minor discomfort.  I ignored it, thinking it would sort itself out as I slept, but when I woke up Thursday morning, it hadn’t gone away.  Thursday was my last day of classes and I had a number of important classes to attend and projects do.  I ignored the pain in my abdomen and just carried on.  As the day went by, the pain only got worse, to the point where I could barely walk.  Nothing I did helped – none of the over the counter medicine I tried did anything.  Finally, my ridiculously long day ended.  I had been at school for 12+ hours, 8 of them spent in class.

I walked as fast as I could to make sure I catch the first bus home.  I was so worried about missing the bus, that overrode my capacity to feel the pain I think.  The worst part of of the whole evening was probably the walk from the bus stop home.  A distance of two blocks, normally taking 2-3 mins to walk, took me nearly 15 mins because I was in so much pain.  Any slight movement resulted in me wanting to pass out.  I managed to make it home, to take a couple pills and collapse into bed.

Friday morning – woke up feeling somewhat better, but after walking around the apartment realized I really wasn’t.  Through trial and error I discovered that I could lay down with fairly little pain, but couldn’t sit or stand for very long.  When sitting, the worst was having to get up or sit down – everything in my abdomen hurt.  It felt like cramps, but it wasn’t considering how long they were lasting.  I spent the majority of Friday in bed trying to catch up on sleep and to alleviate my pain.

By Saturday morning, nothing had changed and so I got my roommate to take me to the doctor.  He had no idea what was going on and got me to take a series of tests – hopefully I’ll hear back from them soon.  He prescribed me some Tylenol 3 and back to bed I went.

Sunday I was feeling better and I managed to adjust my desk chair so that I was on a slight angle when sitting at my desk to minimize my pain.  I had a final essay due on Monday and needed to get started on it ASAP.  By Monday I was feeling a lot better, I was able to walk around the apartment with relative ease.  I even ventured outside for the first time in ages (going to the doctor’s really didn’t count).  I walked down to the public library to pick up a book and managed to walk back.  Took me a really long time cause I had to take small steps (less pain that way).  Man was it cold brrrr….

Which now brings me to today, Tuesday.  There really isn’t too much change today.  Still the same constant cramping pain.  Worst than yesterday – I think I got too excited and over did it by walking to the library.

What scares me is that I still don’t know what it is… I really want to know what is causing this random pain in me and what I can do to get rid of it.  The past 5 days have been self imposed bed rest and its starting to drive me a little crazy…
