Buses are driving me insane! They can never be counted upon to arrive on time at a stop - even the timing stops! Every morning I take the same bus to work which comes only every half hour. The erratic fluctuations in arrival times, causes me to miss the bus and be late for work (although it doesn't really matter - flexitime - but still the principle of the thing!). The bus is suppose to arrive at 8:05 according to the sign posted at the stop. Today, the bus came at 8:02. Yesterday the bus came at 8:10. Whats up with that?! One day you're early and the next day you're super late?? How am I suppose to know whether or not the bus has gone by or not?! There are times listed at the stop for a reason! So people can catch the bus! Usually at the downtown core, tons of people get on the bus, but today? No one – IT’S CAUSE IT WAS EARLY!!!
Yesterday I saw some old guy with a cane yelling at the bus driver cause he was late. It was pretty funny, but really just made the bus even later. I can understand that sometimes there may be traffic or an accident or some other logical reason the bus is late, so that is not too bad, BUT THAT GIVES NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY BUSES ARE EARLY!! There is a schedule. Stick to it.
So I propose a solution - ALL buses should either be on time or late, preferably on time though (obviously). I know other bus routes, if they're running early, wait at timing stops until they are on schedule again. It prevents people from wondering if they have missed the bus and can allow people to find an alternative route (if possible) or maybe seek shelter from the cold/rain/heat/snow or whatever until the next bus comes around. Makes people happier on SO many levels. Passengers won't be angry about waiting for the next bus, people won't be late for their appointments, bus drivers won't have to deal with (too) many complaints... I think its a win-win situation.
GAHHH!! Oh and, the bus driver I get in the morning? Has MAJOR anger issues. He yells at passengers if they're running for the bus, he yells at cars if the pass him too closely... Just because he is driving a bus he thinks he owns the road (granted the bus is pretty big, but seriously!). All I hear in the morning is yell at this, yell at that... sigh... I need a car, no I need a license...
