Co-op Midterm Evaluations

Today, my co-op advisor from school came to my workplace to have the midterm workplace evaluation. Prior to her arrival, both my supervisor and I had to fill out separate evaluation forms to be submitted to them.

It’s scary to think that I’m already half way through my work term! I feel like I’ve barely done anything (which I guess is true) and that I’ve just started. I barely know my coworkers and definitely feel awkward working with them.

In terms of all the admin work I’ve been doing, my advisor suggested that I create my own project in an area that I’m interested in and propose that to my supervisor. My supervisor seems pretty eager to provide me new learning opportunities. I really don’t know what I can do though. I have a little under 2 months left and it seems like it takes AGES for things to move through. Even though this is a non profit, its association with the government includes all the bureaucracy and red tape. There is just too much politics going on. Considering I’m interested in HR, there doesn’t appear to be anything I can do related to HR – there isn’t even an HR department in the office – its run by a volunteer…

I know there are grant applications coming due soon and there will be tons of work involving that. I just need to hang tight and try to come up with a small project or other to work on. Easier said than done.
